Aging in the United States

In 2010 adults over the age of 50 represent 32.1% of the population in the United States; this is an increase of 4.9% over where the same population stood just 10 years earlier (U.S. Census, 2000).  This increase in longevity is a significant portion of the general population increase of 8.84% during the same decade.
